Jim & Megan's Love Story | Couples Photographer, Orwell, NY

Sunday, October 30, 2011

This is part one of Jim & Megan's Love Story photos! They wanted to do a double shoot, one with just them and one with their kids - so we split it into two days. On day one we did the photos at the Salmon River Falls in Orwell, NY. If you've never been there you need to go, it is absolutely gorgeous. You can hike down to the bottom or sit right on the top! I had never done a photoshoot there before, so I wasn't sure about the lighting. It couldn't have been more perfect! The light was magical and it did exactly what I wanted, creating soft glows around Jim and Megan. To top it off they were fantastic subjects to shoot. They were soooo in love it was so easy to capture. This photoshoot is truly a fairytale!! Check out these breathtaking photos of Jim and Megan!!

The following senior session was a whirlwind right from the start. Emily contacted me and asked me to do her senior photos. I was hesitant to book anyone else because I knew I was falling behind, but she mentioned she didn't want "typical" senior photos and she wanted them to be "creative". There was NO way I was going to turn that down! A girl needs her creative outlets from time to time!

The day of the shoot I prayed for nice weather and for some inspiration. The session was only supposed to be a mini session due to lack of time, so I didn't get around to picking out props, etc... An hour before, I came up with a few ideas and set up in the woods behind my parents' house. Emily called and had gotten lost... she ended up getting to my house over a half hour late. I was freaking out because the sun was setting earlier and I was terrified we'd lose the sunlight. While we were in the woods the clouds covered the sun so I just prayed again and started shooting.

Seriously... God comes through even during small things like a photoshoot. From the minute I started shooting I KNEW this would be an amazing shoot. The sun came right back out and was perfect through the trees. Emily had numerous outfits with her, and she was a complete natural in front of the camera. She let me pose her any way I wanted and she let me place her anywhere, including on the dirty ground in her white pants. I just got so carried away with ideas before we knew it there was little light left in the woods. I was nervous that we had already missed the sunset for the field pictures. We came out of the woods as the entire sky was glowing orange. It was amazing. The best shoot of my life so far. I fell in love with it all over again as I began editing the photos.

I am in love with this session. Absolutely in love. Ashleigh is one of my best friends, we went to high school together, partied together, got in crazy dramatic girl fights over stupid stuff together, played bunco together and then she was with me when I delivered Jovie.  I was so excited to finally photograph Ash and her extremely tanned/blonde/perfect-looking family.
